The company | In depth
Latinia is a company that gears its activities at broadening and strengthening new methods of communication between companies and public and private organizations and their customers, suppliers and internal or end users. With its combination of low cost, simplicity and usability, text messaging has emerged as a global communication phenomenon that transcends mere social interaction.

Modern organizations are analyzing their processes to determine where and how mobile messaging can help them to become more efficient, create value, optimize their processes and reduce costs.

In some countries, the monthly growth rate of data sent by text messaging in corporate market applications has outgrown that of the consumer market, and markets that joined the SMS messaging boom later are experiencing triple-digit growth rates. This is the same growth experienced 5 years earlier in Europe, where double-digit annual increases are still being recorded, and the current volume is expected to double by 2010, "with text messaging as the main driving force" (Forrester). It is a current reality that also harbors a promising future.

On the other hand, to exploit the advantages of mobile messaging, there is a need to overcome barriers that are in direct proportion to its enormous potential.

Organizations' IT departments need to acquire the expertise required to confront the complexity of embedding and integrating technologies from the telecommunications sector which have their own evolutionary dynamic and make continuous investment in maintenance and evolution essential.

This dynamic, which is difficult for organizations to deal with, enormously affects their ability to exploit the technology's true potential and to make it available to their business departments in an easily usable and flexible way, thus hugely restricting its potential for exploitation.

As a mature (non-evolving) technology, text messaging, commonly known as SMS (short messaging service) brings various forms of use to the market because the technologies put forward by IT solution providers are similarly diverse.

One way to begin is by using messaging with PC applications (local use) known as communication plug-ins or mono-applications, which are based on pre-paid credit. This type of solution is aimed at the SOHO and SME markets and is designed to meet specific needs that the customer or the company has with its user or supplier base. Such solutions are also in widespread use among the general public. This low-priced possibility banks on the simplicity of its interface and ease of use.
